Timber smugglers, in collusion with forest officials, are taking advantage of the swollen waters of the Brahmaputra and its tributaries to have the logs ferried down the route of the river right into their waiting vehicles, says a report in the Telegraph. Timber extricated from the river is stored on the riverfront, from where they are despatched to different destinations in trucks.
