Seven arrested for stealing peacocks from zoo

Seven men from Miraj in the Sangli district for stealing 12 peacocks and sandalwood from the Rajiv Gandhi zoo at Katraj sometime on Monday night.

The police failed Thursday to recovered the birds and the sandalwood. The suspects were produced before the judicial magistrate (first class) who remanded them to police custody till September 11, says a Times of India report.

Sub inspector B.K. Kindre told TOI the police recovered few newspapers from the spot and realised that all the newspapers were being published from Miraj. "The police also recovered few equipment like cutters and saws from the spot."
